My husband and I took the Road to Hana tour with Travis as our guide. We LOVED Travis, he was wonderful! He was funny, knowledgeable, and kind the entire tour. He quickly learned all of our names and engaged with us all individually throughout the tour, which was awesome. He kept each of us engaged for the entire day, which is no small task considering the tour went from roughly 7:30AM to 6:00PM. He was born and raised in the area so he had a deep knowledge of the culture and history. We felt as though we got an invaluable look into life in Hana, all thanks to Travis. I would 100% recommend him and his tour to anyone visiting Maui. My favorite part was when he swam in the waterfall with us!
The breakfast was pretty light, but it was delicious - fresh fruit, a muffin or two, and some yummy drinks.
The tour itself stopped at numerous amazing views, delicious food, and local shops. Make sure to bring some cash as a few of the vendors don’t accept cards, though most do. There are plenty of opportunities for food, and Travis supplied water bottles and juice, which was great because we were pretty thirsty after a lot of the stops. There are also plenty of bathroom stops!
I am SO glad that we didn’t drive ourselves - it would have been horrible. The road is tight, winding, and a bit scary at times, but we felt 100% safe and sound with Travis navigating and driving us. No one on our tour got sick from the twists and turns, though there were plenty - and they weren’t as bad as I was thinking they’d be. We sat in the very back of the bus so I was a little worried about getting motion sickness, but Travis was great at keeping the ride nice and smooth.
The drive ended with Travis playing some local music for us, and it was the perfect cherry on top to an amazing day. Thank you for everything, Travis!
Small Tip: if you will be stopping in the waterfall - bring water shoes. There is a small crossing you have to use to get to the waterfall that was a bit slippery but totally doable. You CAN go in without them, but there are plenty of rocks and slippery parts that were made easier with some cheap Amazon water shoes.
