This wasn't what I expected from a Bonaventure Tour, but we enjoyed it. The cemetery was beautiful with its majestic monuments, vibrant azalea blooms, and weeping Spanish moss. Shannon is an incredible storyteller who recreates the fascinating stories of Bonaventure's residents and monuments. I expected more of a "ghost" tour, but this is more history and folk lore of the area.

This was the first thing I wanted to do on our visit to Savannah-- very intriguing. It ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. Lisa Marie was our tour guide and she was both interesting and engaging. It was also nice to know that being a native of the city, Bonaventure had been a part of her life. This tour should be part of everyone's itinerary. We had a beautiful day and the walk was easy. We even drove back through before we left Savannah to see more. What a great history lesson! Don't miss it.

If you take any tour on your trip to Savannah, the Bonaventure Cemetery Journeys tour with Shannon Scott is THE tour to take! I had taken a tour of Bonaventure Cemetery with another tour company last summer & found it to be quite hokie & rather scripted... a bit of regurgitated hoopla... On my recent trip back to Savannah, I joined up for Shannon's tour & I was so glad I did! Shannon was completely unscripted and did not speak in childish goulish tones which is something that turned me off from the other tour. Shannon told not only the story of Bonaventure but also the story of Savannah itself & he told it in such a manner to make me feel as if I was walking through a beautiful estate garden with an old friend & true local of Savannah. Not only was he informative of the "residents" of the cemetery but he also gave us a "peek behind the veil" so to speak in telling our group a bit of insider lore which helped to make our other Savannah tours all the better. He was un-rushed and welcomed questions from the group. One can truly get a sense that Shannon sincerely loves Savannah & gives the gift of her story as told by no one else. He is the one & only, Bard of Bonaventure. Definitely - if you do any tour in Savannah - this is the one!
