Good presentation and deep knowledge of the skies from the guide. Two big disappointments that were out of their control and a future consumer needs to keep in mind. We were there with a full moon present. That brightness washed out one of the items i really wanted to see --- The Milky Way. The second disappointment, going in, i was hoping to get a look at Saturn from the telescope. However, it would not rise above the horizon until 2 or 3 that morning. Very good explanation behind the location (using laser pointer) and "creation" of constellations .

It should have been cancelled because of clouds. There are so many negatives about it I will describe a few. 1. the laser pointer they were attempting to point out this with would show until it hit the clouds so it never really pointed to anything. 2. They should warn that progressive glasses will not work with the eye piece of the telescope so not really able to view the stars through the telescopes. the Binoculars just made the clouds larger. (it was not totally clouded over, however there was to many mid level clouds to enjoy the evening. The laser being blocked showed the cloud cover). 3. It is spread out and they do not use any amplification for the presenter. What I was able to hear, was interesting though. To me it was a total waste of money and time. I have done others in other places where the sky was clear and it was great. This was a very negative experience.

Incredibly knowledgeable retired astronomer gave our large group a tour of the stars, using large telescopes, binoculars and laser pointers to highlight a variety of stars, planets, and even the international space station! Great location, blankets and chairs provided (no hot chocolate tho). Tips: 1. Try to time your trip to a new moon phase (darker sky, easier to see the stars) 2. The start time changes throughout the year based on sunset 3. The chairs are the standard issue outdoor collapsible chairs, if you want something comfier bring it with you. 4. If you bring kids, they will almost certainly fall asleep - bring them in pajamas and save yourself the headache. Would definitely reccomend as a way to explore the benefits of a dark sky community - so many stars!
