My husband and I booked a semi private surfing lesson with Maui Wave Riders Lahina. It was one of the highlights of the trip. Our instructor, Kahala, was truly wonderful! She has the heart of a teacher and great patience. Under her guidance I was able to get up on the board 3 of my 4 attempts. I’m 63 and not at all athletic. Highly recommend MWR Lahina

My husband and I took a lesson with Kyle today and it was beyond great. He made us instantly feel comfortable and safe and knew exactly how to build our confidence and give us a taste of surfing for us two novices. Thanks for a fun time and memory!

Great experience for the three of us. I surfed 30 years ago, so this was a refresher (much needed). The other two including my 6 year old daughter were new to surfing. We all got up every single try. Kohala was our instructor and she is the best on the beach. As some have said, the lesson area is crowded, but in our 2 hours, the three of us each got 10+ waves. Remember, a huge part of surfing is being one with the ocean and waiting for those waves. We will go back every time we are on Maui. Unfortunately, we had our lessons the day before the Hurricane Dora Wildfires hit on August 8 2023. From the pictures on August 9th, their building burned down and nothing is left. Some of the instructors lived right behind the shop. It looks like the trainer down the street with all their boards burned also. We are devastated, but when they rebuild, we will be back. We hope all of them are safe. Sending our Aloha to the MWR ohana!
