Great adventure! With a husband in the Navy and a Marine fighter pilot father, this was the best.
Someone suggested we bring our own earbuds with round plug ins, great suggestion.
The head of line ticket was great and super easy. There was an elevator up to hanger deck that helped my husband. He broke his pelvis 3 months ago and was able to do the bridge tour. It is climbing up ladder/stairs with hand railings on both sides, slow but steady and he arrived on the bridge to look down on flight deck and city of San Diego. Need upper body strength to hold on as you climb up, but definitely doable.
The highlight of tour for us was the catapult talk towards the bow and the recovery/arresting gear in the stern area. The pilots and videos explained everything, they were incredible and so informative. Lots of “yellow hats” veterans everywhere to answer any question.
We can not recommend this museum highly enough, it was fantastic. Veteran families and civilians and foreign visitors will enjoy and learn so much about our incredible Navy and Marine Corps.
Great show for all.
Early close in parking $10 for the day and just a walk back up towards street to catch the Hornblower cruise.
Take the family and tons of stuff for the kids.
Don’t miss this adventure in San Diego Harbor.
