Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. Daniel and Ross were our guides and are fantastic! Very knowledgeable and all-around good people. The 3-hour tour was very laid back as well as informative. We learned a lot, enjoyed the beautiful scenery and WILLL be back. Bring sunscreen and some water and enjoy the tour!

Brian (and Kevin! ;)) fantastic guides! I learned a ton and had a blast! Absolutely stunning scenery! We saw fish, birds, manatees, and dolphins! Shell Key is breath taking! Highly recommend!!

Our tour with Coastal Kayak Charters was amazing! Our guide, Brian, was great. He took the time to explain how the Shell Key Preserve came to be, and its impact on the local environment. We got to paddle through several mangrove tunnels, and along the way we saw many sea birds. We also got to go to a beach on Shell Key where we found live conchs, sand dollars, crabs, and saw dolphins playing in the water. We did not see any manatees on our tour, but Brian said they often see them on tours. I am not an experienced kayaker, but I was able to keep up with the group without any issues. My two 14 year old girls were with me in a tandem kayak, and they did great. That being said, it is a 3 hour tour, and you will kayak over 3 miles. I recommend wearing sunscreen or sun protective clothing, a hat, and bring a water bottle.
