Travelers should have a high level of physical fitness
Not recommended for the severely obese or persons with limited mobility. We snorkel from a rocky beach so entries and exits are difficult at best.
Anyone with a history of past or present heart conditions, respiratory disorders or history of seizures or fainting will not be permitted to snorkel. No refunds will be given the day of the tour for a medical disqualification.
Participants must weigh between 80 and 260 pounds for proper wetsuit fit.
Suggested maximum age is 70 due to the strenuous nature of snorkeling in Alaska

This was a last minute booking and we were so lucky to have booked with Snorkel Alaska. They were so professional, had great equipment, great facilities, and they were passionate about making sure everyone in the group had a great experience. Thank you Fred and Kurt for a great afternoon in the water.

Great fun, extremely well organized. Supplied everything we needed, with tons of options to accommodate all body types. Crew was extremely helpful getting us into our gear and orienting us to the snokel area. Felt very warm and comfortable underwater, and the visibility and "wildlife" were excellent. As a plus, mother nature treated us to 60+ degrees and sunshine. Wonderful morning in Ketchikan and totally recommend.

Not overly impressed with the experience. I didn't experience any problems but the overall customer service was mediocre at best. I can't say I would recommend this excursion.

Dear Islic2, I certainly get a kick out of vague reviews such as yours citing "mediocre customer service". I am Fred and I own this company and have so for 24 years. I love my tour and I love leading people into the water. In fact I have done so for 35 years as a PADI Professional SCUBA Instructor. I taught diving at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA and I worked onboard Norwegian Cruise Line's leading snorkeling tours in ALL the ports of call including right here in Ketchikan, Alaska. So I am really offended by your comment! I know the exact levels of customer service we provide and they are exceptional. So can you please tell me when you snorkeled with us and who were your guides? I meet about 80% of our tours personally and drive the group to the shop while providing super detailed instructions on how to put on and use all of our equipment. I am then there along with my staff helping everyone dress into their wetsuits. We focus on helping the younger kids and the extremely overweight into their suits first and then anyone else who needs our assistance. We assist with getting all the rest of the gear on down at the waters edge. We help everyone put their fins on, adjust masks and help get the gloves on. We then provide a one hour guided marine life tour all while taking care of any mask fogging issues, leak issue, leg cramps and often even rescuing those who are too overweight, out of shape or too elderly to actually be in the water. We help with crying children and all kinds of other issues in the water all while freediving down to depths of 20, 30 and 40 feet to bring up some cool marine life for you all to see! After the tour we have a giant cooler of hot water out at the site for a quick warm up and rinse. We then get everyone back to the shop, help them out of their wetsuits and provide hot showers. My staff and I then wash all the equipment so you can shower and enjoy a hot cocoa. Then we drop you off back at your ship in a timely manner... My staff are phenomenal at taking care of you in the water. So again I am baffled by this review and feel maybe you were one of those folks who probably should have heeded the warning about the strenous nature of snorkeling in Alaska. Can you please reach out to me and let me know when you snorkeled with us and who were your guides. I did have some problem staff early on who were quickly let go and replaced but they we always under my direct supervision along with Kurt who's worked for me for 18 summers. I'd love to know when you participated and who led your tour. Feel free to call or email me so I can rectify such "mediocre customer service". At least you gave us 3 stars... But all anyone has to do is look on Trip Advisor or Viator to see the real truth behind my tour and the extremely high levels of customer we provide here at Snorkel Alaska.
