Drive up along the shores of Lake McDonald and stop at the Lake McDonald Lodge. Your guide is well versed in park history and tales of the bears in Glacier National Park. Take photos out on the dock of Lake McDonald and enjoy the scenery.

Apgar Visitor Center

Enjoy the historic area of Apgar Village. View the crystal clear waters of Lake McDonald, stroll around the area and learn about the history of the park. Admission is included upon purchase of your National Park Pass at the entry.

A fantastic day with our awesome tour guide, Lainey! Beautiful sightseeing tour included Hungry Horse Dam, Polebridge Mercantile for delicious lunch, Apgar Village, Lake McDonald boat tour etc. Six ladies with friendships from grade school to now(50 plus years) had so much fun. Lainey was extremely knowledgeable and fun--accomodated all our photo requests too! Highly recommend Whitefish Outfitters and Lainey. Margy

It was an incredible and memorable day for our first time in Montana! This scenic view of west Glacier was breathtaking! Our guide, Lainey, was fun, upbeat and provided a wealth of knowledge about the area, from history to specific plant names. We stopped several times for photos, shopping and bathroom breaks. And we had a delicious lunch at Polebridge Mercantile, topped off with huckleberry bear claws! Our tour also included an added boat trip on Lake McDonald, where we saw a bald eagle and spectacular views of the turquoise waters and surrounding mountains. Lainey had a great sense of humor and custom catered the tour to our needs. The 14-passenger van gave the six of us plenty of room to spread out in comfort. I can’t say enough about the professionalism of Whitefish Outfitters!

We spent the day touring the west side of glacier with Joel and had an incredible day learning about Glacier National Park and experiencing Lake McDonald up close. This is a much more easy going and relaxed tour than the East side. Not nearly as much driving so you can take your time and enjoy the lake and other places in a more leisurely way. The lunch at Polebridge is amazing!!! No other way to describe it. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had and they had some of the most delicious pastries and cookies we have ever tasted! Our tour guide was Joel, he was awesome! So knowledgeable and great with the kids. He had an answer at the ready for every question about the park we had and had some great inside baseball tips on experiencing the park. I would request him if possible for your tour. When he told us about Polebridge we were skeptical but it’s so worth the drive out there. It’s almost at the Canadien border and there is this little village that appears as you drive up. The sandwiches are best I’ve ever had and don’t try the cookies… unless you are ok trying like 6 more because they are so ridiculously good. All in all a great day in the park and surrounding areas, you will definitely see some things that are off the beaten path away from the crowds that you normally wouldn’t get to see experience. I’d pair this as the second leg of a 2 day tour. The east side tour of Glacier along the Going to the Sun road would be my first priority if I only had time for one.
