I’ve done bus tours in many different cities, and this was by far the worst. The prerecorded audio was terrible. I agree with a previous reviewer, more music and chit chat than guide and knowledge. Also, there was a lot of overlap of the same recording on the uptown tour as the downtown tour. The problems we had: 1. When waiting to catch the uptown tour, the “live tracking” showed the bus 4-5 and 5-6 minutes away for over 30 minutes. We had THREE buses show up, tell us they were the uptown bus, tell us to wait to get on, then drive off. THREE TIMES. On the coldest day of the year in NYC. Awful customer service. I mean if you are going out of service say that. Don’t just lie and then take off leaving us standing there. 2. When we finally got on the bus, we sat on the bottom. And there was no heat on the bus! Our feet were ice cubes. It was warmer on the covered part of the top of another bus. 3. Our driver was scary. We had three different drivers for the day. The first two (on the downtown lines) were fine. The driver on the uptown line was downright scary. He cut off so many people, was so close to hitting so many cars and CONSTANTLY honking. Honk, honk, honk. I don’t remember any of the other drivers honking once. Awful. I would not recommend Big Bus tours in NYC and would advise to try a different one.

As it's New York the roads are extremely busy so if you're planning to use the hop on hop off then I'd suggest walking where you can and using the subway to get further out. As it was an extremely cold day we thought we'd utilise the bus, it was colder on the bus (downstairs) than it was on the open top part of the bus or actually walking. We took the bus from outside the m&m store to Brooklyn Bridge, it was so cold on the bus that we decided that to return back to times square we'd use the subway which was fast and warm!! I'd like to add that the lady that sorted our tickets was also having a not so private conversation on her phone, feels like they just want to take your money without offering any customer service. Don't waste your hard earned money!

Vickiw1479, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional service, so we are disappointed to hear that your visit with us was anything less than satisfactory. We are sorry to hear that it was very cold on the day of your visit. As all of our buses are open top, double decker buses, the temperature can be colder when the bus is in motion due to the wind. We apologize for this and hope you can give us another chance during the warmer seasons.

What a shame, booked this thinking I would see sights and note areas to go back to. Whilst we were given audio headphones the connection was poor so had to keep readjusting to hear all info. Audio wasn't always close to the sight we were at, appreciate traffic etc but maybe adding a pause would help. The blue line busses are too infrequent compared to red line. We made our own way back and saw much more using Google maps. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this trip, use Google maps to plan your day and use subway or local bus, you'll see much more.
