“Vera Marie” raises the bar for fishing head boats “Party Boats”. She runs two fishing trips per day during the season and 1 trip per day during the off season when available. She is also excellent for corporate parties, holiday events, family reunions, weddings, bachelor/ette parties and more. The Vera Marie is a 70′ walk-around. She also has a Sun Deck, large Air-Conditioned salon and restrooms.

This was our first time deep sea fishing. I had myself, my 14 year old, and my 12 year old. The boat trip to where you fish is super long, like longer than 2 hours, so be prepared to ride. They do offer a television, and snack bar (limited options) while you wait. The captain was never seen or heard from other than him blowing the horn a couple of times. The crew was nice and helpful. We did catch fish, but not the size we thought and had seen from others. They do offer to clean and fillet the fish after your trip, so that was cool. They don't however offer anything to clean your hands while baiting the hooks during fishing, and both bathrooms were out of soap, so I highly recommend you come prepared with germ-x, wipes, or something of that sort. I'd say it was an ok trip for beginners, it was just a little more work than we expected for myself alone with 2 kids. Reeling fish in from the bottom of the ocean with a 10 pound weight at the bottom of your pole is HARD WORK!

Spent a half day fishing with a great team of deckhands. We visited two fishing spots. The first was not active but the fish were sure hitting at the second location. The ship was full (65 people) and I’m sure everyone caught at least a couple of snappers. They assign each person/group a different cooler and put the caught fish into the coolers, assuming they are at least min length size and are in-season. The deckhands will fillet your catch after docking back in Destin. Be aware that around 2/3 of the time is spent travelling to/from the fishing spot(s), so you’ll only be fishing for a couple of hours on a 6-hour trip. The currents were strong on the day I went, and this caused lines to shift around in the water. As a result, there were a fair number of tangled lines. But that’s to be expected since we were standing just a couple of feet to the left/right of the next fisherman, and really not a big deal. Just be happy that you are out fishing and not sitting at a desk somewhere! I’ll definitely book another visit with Pelican.

I went on a trip on july 3rd and had a great time catching fish and the crew was great so I had to book another trip before leaving destin. I just came back today from the 2nd trip and once again it was incredible, Shaun, andrea and the rest of the crew really make the time on the boat great. We caught plenty of fish and had a awesome time.
