Our experience offers a showcase of what grows on Kauai in our regenerative food forest: A collection of exotic and delicious foods brought to Hawai`i from all corners of the globe. Coffee, pineapple, tree tomato, kava, mamak'i, heart of palm, papaya, bananas, and more! More importantly it demonstrates a model for how food can be grown in harmony with nature, planted in concert so there is no need for imported fertilizers and pesticides. The tour concludes with a family style meal to savor and enjoy while celebrating the delicious diversity that exists on Kauai all while exploring our mission here at Common Ground. 100% Island sourced because it should be, from the cooking oil to the seasonings. We really enjoyed the tour, it was very informative. We were not, however, impressed with the meal. Could just be that our tastes are not quite bourgeois enough to have appreciated the dishes. Also, we did not recognize many of the ingredients as being on our tour, would like to have seen where they were sourced from.

We had an amazing tour with a very talented tour guide at Lydgate Farms! It was really a delicious and educational highlight of our visit to Kaua’i. The farm is a gorgeous showcase of cacao, vanilla and honey with a focus on the sustainability practices employed by the farm. We were so impressed! The best part, of course, is the opportunity to taste their delicious chocolate and honey! I highly recommend this tour!

The tour is small and short, and the food is only okay. What they’re doing seems to be very noble, but they’re preachy about it. If the experience was cheaper, it would be 5 stars, but it wasn’t at the level of other tours nearby that cost the same and last longer, with more to do and see.
