The snorkeling cruise aboard the Calypso was very enjoyable. Great snorkeling, modern roomy cruising vessel, excellent food and the crew is top shelf.
Whatever time they give you, get there early. We got a free space right near the dock. If you have to park near the aquarium, not only do you have to pay for parking, it’s also about a 10 minute walk to the dock. Plus, you are closer to the front of the line and have a better choice of where you’d like to sit. We sat inside since it can get pretty hot, something to keep in mind.
This was the best snorkeling cruise we’ve taken. The crew gave excellent detailed snorkeling instructions and guided you in the water. They offer inexpensive wet suit and underwater camera rentals. For a reasonable price you can purchase their underwater photos taken by their photographer who took incredible pictures. You get all the pictures, not just the ones you are in.
Molokini has such clear water, 50 feet down. Yes it is a crowded spot, but just use common sense and you’ll be fine. The rewards are great views of many beautiful species of fish. The weather didn’t cooperate, so we were not able to snorkel at Turtle Town. So, we just stayed longer at Molokini.
And boy do they feed you! Breakfast consisted of eggs and sausage, pastries, sweetbreads, POG, OJ and coffee. Lunch was a choice of a pulled pork sandwich or a turkey sub with cole slaw and chips. Later they served veggies and dip, and nutty IC bars. Everything was really delicious.
There are a number of snorkeling operators to choose from. If you want an excellent all around great snorkel cruise, we highly recommend the Calypso for your Molokini experience!
