Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

Loved the personal feel of tour of the waters surrounding Hoonah. We saw whales, eagles, sea otters, sea lions, and puffins. Definitely was a highlight of our trip to Alaska.

My adult daughter and I went on this tour 2 days ago. We were the only people on the tour which was wonderful but couldn't understand why!!! We saw brown bears as wecwere heading out, humback whales and sea otters. Our captain, Jordan, made us very welcome as did his wife. Mariah (apologies if I have misspelled these) who picked us up. We felt very secure booking this tour apart from the cruise ship excursions...and no hoards of people! Thank you to Hoonah Whale Tours

We were researching with trip advisor and decided to go with this group due to the great reviews and they did not disappoint! This is a quaint family run business with Maraiya and her husband Jordan. They were easy to book when and communication was prompt. The tour itself was fantastic as the boat only holds 6 people and lucky for us on our tour day we were the only ones on the boat (4 people) versus the 100’s on the boats around us. Jordan knows these waters well as his family has a long legacy of fishing and we were lucky enough to see humpback whales including a calf as well as seals, otters and porpoise. This was a great escape from the large cruise crowd and would recommend this tour!
