Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

When out on our whale watching tour you will be in Icy Strait (body of water) You will get to see humpback whales (guaranteed!), sea lion, sea otter, and bald eagles. You even have the chance of seeing brown bear along the beaches, orcas and puffins flying by.

What a wonderful Alaskan experience! From Start to finish, I loved every second of this whale viewing adventure! Captain Joardon made sure to make our trip memorable! The boat was very comfortable and the fact that there were only 6 passengers aboard (all in our group) made it very intimate! We saw more humpback whales than I could count along with porpoises and otters! I'll always remember the serene sounds of the humpbacks coming to the surface! Thank you, Captain Joardon, for making this a wonderful once in a lifetime memory for me!!!

Loved, loved, loved my time on this tour. While I sat in the small setting of up to 6 tourist on this boat, we watched other tours drive by with folks reaching necks out to see as the boat had lots of people on it. But more importantly Jordan was an awesome guide. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Hoonah area. My tour was 3 hours but I could have stayed out there all day. This is a local family owned business which is also a plus. If I go back to Alaska I will definitely look up Hoonah Whale Tours again.

Aug 29 took the 10:30 am tour. We saw so many whales breaching and one jumped totally out of the water. I highly recommend this tour since it is small only 6 guests taken. Cruise lines pack you on a larger boat where you have to jockey to see. One of the highlights of our Alaska trip.
