Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

This tour was FANTASTIC, we fell onto this company as our Crystal Cruise was overbooked and WOW this was so good it was fantastic !!! What a find.... Captain Joardon and his wife Maraiya were so friendly and nice we felt instantly like we were friends. Maraiya picked us up at the ship terminal, explained to us the tour, after a five minute car drive we met her husband Joardon at the boat dock. Their boat is Awesome, like new in mint condition with leather comfy seats and a fine heater, Mariaya also made muffins with fresh blueberries picked by Joardon they were the best I have ever had !!!! As well as their good hot coffee !!! Now the tour itself was over the top good, we saw over a dozen whales, a sea lion, jumping fish , lots of birds and to top it off on the boat ride home we stopped to watch a mother bear with 2 bear cubs on the shoreline, wow !!! This tour was way over the top for myself and my wife and such nice people made it so enjoyable !!! This has been our best tour to date on our Crystal Cruise from Vancouver to anchorage !!!! Thanks to them both Great Great Tour !!!

My family, including my 1-year old daughter, had an amazing time on this whale watching tour. We saw several humpback whales and one even breached very near to the boat. We also had a chance to see some sea lions and a bear on the way back to shore. Maraiya and Joardan were super vigilant of our family's needs with my daughter which was greatly appreciated. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

We had booked a whale-watching tour with another company, but their boat was out of operation, so they were able to arrange it with Hoonah Whale Tours. Wow, were we lucky! The boat is new and clean, and Jordan is a wonderful captain. He found us numerous whales to watch. It was great weather, so we could stand out on the deck; but when it got windy, we were able to sit inside. We had just our group of four. So much better than trying to view the whales with a huge group of other people.
