Gold, Gold, Gold! Alaska is known for oil and gold. Our guides are familiar with gold panning and the man who first discovered gold in July 1902, starting the Fairbanks Gold Rush. This monument is one of many treasures we are happy to share whenever possible with guests. Please remember we go where the clear skies are and not all guests have the same locations to visit. If you want to learn about Alaskan History, ask our wonderful guides who are happy to share both personal and historical facts and stories.

Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point

Here at Aurora in Alaska we go to the best cloud free location each night. One of our favorites stops along the way is the awe-inspiring and historical Alyeska Pipeline. Whenever possible our guides happily share our Alaskan history with oil and take guests up close and personal to the pipeline.

This tour was one of four for our family and friends. I highly recommend booking with different tour groups if you are spending several nights, each have a different perspective. This tour was set up very professionally. They have their selected site set up with cameras, campfires, hot drinks. Comfortable vans too. This tour doesn't necessarily "travel" searching for the Aurora but they have do have a great site. It wasn't the best night to view the lights but the pictures came out awesome despite. Highly recommend.

With Northern Lights viewing dependent on clear weather, this company uses the weather forecasts a few days in advance and works with your schedule to choose the best opportunity to experience this phenomenon during your stay in Fairbanks. The night we booked was cloudy, but we were immediately rebooked for a clear night. Nicole was so responsive, friendly and helpful. You also need to get away from light pollution to view the lights. We traveled about an hour away and up the mountain, so we were thankful for the 4 wheel drive van and safe driver to get us there. Once at the location, we were free to take our own photos, get as many professional photos as we wanted from 3 photographers, warm up by the fire, have hot drinks, reindeer, and popcorn. The guides and photographers were nice to talk to and provided tips on photographing the lights and things to do in the area or about Alaska. The above and beyond was the late return to the hotel so we could see the lights dancing at their peak in the early morning hours. This was an unforgettable experience and not to be missed!
