We had the most beautiful day to be out on a boat to see whales! Our boat was full, so, it was get the best view where you could either from the window/s, back of the boat or the front but we got to see whales!!!! We saw a mother humpback and her calf, which our naturalist Sara R pointed out that this mother has been coming back to this particular spot for several years. Then Captain Terry, who was in contact with other tour boats brought us into an area where Orcas were, it was hard to keep up to see them, each time someone spotted a whale spout, we rush to see and then there they were, these magnificent, majestic animals, adults, juveniles or babies. The difference between this whale watching tour and another I've experienced is Capt. Terry and Sara don't use underwater devices to spot the animals, they rely on other tour boats. It was exhilarating and couldn't ask for a better day - Thank you Capt Terry and Sarah.
Megan, our shuttle driver took us from the port to the landing where we took our whale watching tour and then drove us to the Salmon bake with some really good food under a forest canopy - picnic atmosphere. You could walk off your lunch to browse the gift shop or walk beyond the gift shop a short distance to the water falls and also see where at one time prospectors looked for gold.
Just a note, be sure to dress for weather, if need be and the water can get pretty choppy, so be prepared if you get motion sickness.
