We toured with Mr Kahikina Ching, who is most knowledgeable of the places, the culture, the history, and the best places to visit on a short day. The bee farm was unfortunately closed the day after Christmas, but alternatives were visited instead. The government shutdown also affected our plans for the day, but again, Mr Ching found alternative places and routes. Entertainment in the vehicle included Mr Ching himself singing Hawaiian songs! Would definitely recommend!

Tour guide Dreu Basaldua was fantastic, knew the history of the island and took us to see what we wanted to see and introduce us to local fruit that he brought with him. Dreu has a fantastic attitude and was very friendly toward everyone on the trip.

My wife booked a tour of Volcanos national park from the hotel. She knows I'm not a fan of tour buses. I couldn't have been more wrong, our tour with Kala Holiday as our guide was absolutely outstanding and one of my favorite experiences on our trip. Kala was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic that we couldn't believe we weren't listening to a tape! Non-stop information, personal experiences from Kala from his Hawaiian background was more then I ever expected. I learned more about Hawaii in the first half hour, I was amazed. He really made this trip exceptional. First we went to the coffee farm and had a tot and lunch there, and it was delicious. Then off to black sands beach where Kala went and found some turtles up close and made sure everyone got to see them. Then we were off to Volcanos National park and saw the lava erupting in the crater, the whole time Kala was very attentive to our questions and even had rain coats for us. Then a nice dinner at The Volcano house. Really one of our best days on the island, I highly recommend this tour, very comfortable and well done. Hope all there are safe after the eruptions and now the hurricane. We will be back soon.
