This was my first Luau therefore I am not comparing it to others. I thought the show itself was really good. The host was excellent; he was funny, very entertaining, and kept the audience engaged. I withheld one star because outside of the pulled pork, the food was just okay. It was self-serve buffet and they ran out of certain items without everyone having the opportunity to partake. The last star was withheld because there was a dog running around wildly jumping on everyone. I personally have a phobia of dogs and could not relax because the dog was all over the place. He was not violently aggressive however, he was very playfully aggressive. I spoke to management about it and was told the dog has been there for several days and they have not been able to catch him. There was many people there who seemed to like having a dog running around and randomly jumping on them / in there laps. I on the other hand though it was very distasteful and unsanitary because many people was petting the dog to include Mele staff and when it was time to eat those same people went straight to the buffet without washing hands. If you’re not into dog’s this one is not for you. It was my son’s birthday and he was having a good time that’s the only reason I didn’t get up and leave.

Thank you for your review. We are so happy that you liked the show. We are sorry about the dog. There is not a fence around the luau, so a dog got in and it was too fast for us to catch. We did contact the Humane Society and they were able to catch the dog and remove it, so it won’t be a problem in the future. From a sanitary perspective, we do have a sanitation station right before the buffet. I’m not sure about the food but we have never run out of food preventing guests from making a plate with everything on the menu on their first round. However, after people get seconds or thirds some popular items start to run out. We are a new luau and we are always making improvements. You’ll be happy to know that we felt the same way about the stray dog and already got that corrected. We also asked our team to do a better job of encouraging people to use the sanitation station. We came here to experience the culture and they did not disappoint! We absolutely recommend and the staff is incredibly friendly, not to mention the food was delicious!! Several interactive activities provided adding more fun to the experience! Issac was an incredible guide on the route!
