More than just an adventure, this educational tour takes you into a world that few can ever experience. The open ocean world of sharks!

We take you three miles off shore, where you can observe Galapagos and Sandbar sharks in their natural environment from the safety of a floating cage. No scuba experience is necessary, you enter the cage from above and stay on the surface using a mask and snorkel. Large Poly Glass windows let you peer into the open ocean and watch the sharks as they glide gracefully through the deep blue. To be in the presence of such awe inspiring animals will change the way you see sharks forever.

After being cancelled due to rough weather we feared we wouldn't get to do this in our limited time frame. I remember thinking " I don't care if the boat ride is choppy.." Luckily we were able to go the next morning when the ocean was "much calmer" and once we got to the actual site I realized "I'm an idiot and these guys know the limits- THANK GOODNESS we didn't go the day before!" Even on a "calm" day getting into and out of the cage is tricky and actually being IN the cage is trickier. Be prepared to be thrown against the cage walls/floor and into other divers. This is OPEN WATER. And remember, when you grab onto the cage to balance...your hands are on the OUTSIDE of the shark cage (I'll pause while you think about that statement for just a moment...). All this said, this was an AMAZING experience. The sharks clearly are trained to the sound of this boat and to them "idle" is a big delicious dinner bell. We were quickly surrounded and had plenty of time to marvel at these giants ...quite literally up close and personal. You can hold your breath and go down for peeks or use the provided snorkel for longer viewing. If you use the snorkel, again remember OPEN WATER, be prepared for the waves to flood into your breathing tube. Added bonus - on the way back we saw two flying fish. I knew they were "a thing", but had no concept that they were REALLY A THING!! Super cool ending to an amazing experience.

My husband and I flew to Oahu for 6-7 hours, just to do this cage dive, before we headed to the big island for our 7 day trip. Let me tell you..this was the ultimate experience. I have always loved the ocean and sharks! They are the one thing that scares me and fascinates me at the same time. I planned my whole trip around this experience and it was more than worth it. The water wasn't too cold, a little choppy, but clear and we were able to see everything. There were several sharks in the water and they came close to the cage and boat, so you could really get a good look at them. I honestly could've stayed out there all day long. The sharks were constant throughout our time in the water and none were aggressive by any means. We had the best crew that took us out, they were informative and nice. I forgot their names, but the captain was a guy and the other crew member was a lady(10/11/17 1pm dive). I just want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to get to interact with these amazing creatures. We had an amazing time and we will definitely be coming back!

What an amazing experience ! Highly recommend joining Hawaii Shark Experience for an incredible day out diving with sharks. The crew are very very friendly and very informative. They cater for everyones needs and look after kids especially ! Will be going back for sure !
