What To Expect

Charleston City Hall

The tour will begin in front of City Hall which is one of the pillars of the "Four Corners of Law" which also includes the Courthouse, the Post Office and St Michaels Church at the intersection of Meeting Street and Broad Street. From here you will explore many notable sites in the French Quarter and the residential area "South of Broad".

Rainbow Row

Learn the history behind the famous Rainbow Row, one of the most photographed sites in Charleston. Rainbow Row is located in the "South of Broad" neighborhood which we will explore and includes many historically significant homes including the antebellum mansions located along the famous "Battery". ***Please note that stops along the tour may vary.***

Battery & White Point Gardens

Explore the residential area "South of Broad" including the Battery with views over the water to Fort Sumter.

Our tour guide Paul was amazing. His knowledge of history was incredible. He was able to answer any questions our group had. The meet up location was easy. Make sure and look up the closest parking garage or plan out how long it will take you to walk to the location. We loved learning the history, seeing the beautiful homes including Rainbow Row, hearing about churches and the Dock Street Theater, and so much more. Make notes of places you’re most interested in so you can go back and spend more time there like the Slave Trade museum, St Michael’s church and the Dock Street Theater. We actually went back to the Theater and bought tickets to the musical Fiddler on the Roof for that night! Oh, and Paul Attaway is an author so check out his books. 👍👍

Really enjoyed this walking tour and learned so much from Al, our tour guide. He provided so much insight into the history of Charleston, keeping us entertained the entire two hours. Definitely do this tour!
