What To Expect
1
The Mitten Buttes And Merrick Butte
First, we'll assign you a horse based on your experience, weight, and height. Then we'll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, followed by the East Mitten Butte. They are also known together as, The Mittens. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it's between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.
2
Sentinel Mesa
Located northwest of The Mittens, it's a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from the Monument Valley Visitor Center.

Very relaxed and enjoyable horseback tour around the famous mittens mesa. The guides were engaging and knowledgeable and aware of the capabilities of their customers regarding the horses and environment. We were lucky to have a great guide just for ourselves in the afternoon

Great experience overall, my boyfriend, his mother and me had a great time. This was my bf's first time riding and he really enjoyed it, so did me and his mother who rode before but some time ago. Our group was mixed with more experienced riders, but there was a part where me and them could go galloping while the others were taking a break. Beutiful view, some interesting stories, if not necessarily informational about the park itself. Great athmosphere despite the very warm day.

Fantastic morning riding out into Monument Valley (4 of us) with our very friendly and knowledgeable guide, Nelson; lovely bloke. The younger of us happily cantered off in to the distance while I meandered along thinking of Buster Scraggs. Highly recommended .
