What To Expect

The Mitten Buttes And Merrick Butte

First, we'll assign you a horse based on your experience, weight, and height. Then we'll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, followed by the East Mitten Butte. They are also known together as, The Mittens. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it's between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.

Sentinel Mesa

Located northwest of The Mittens, it's a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from the Monument Valley Visitor Center.

I called this company to make a booking for 4 persons (I already made a reservation for 2 at Viator, but 4 was not possible). I phoned the company and she said that it was possible for 4 persons and that she would mail me a confirmation. After several mails and a messenger message I still don't have received the confirmation. Very frustrating!!!

Our guide, Roy, was the best! Friendly and very helpful. Set us up on our horses infront of a couple of the monuments and he took our group photo. Great sense of humor and you can tell he loves his horse family. Roy even got down on one knee (as a stool) and helped me to get back on my horse after our break. Highly recommend this tour!!!

Incredible way to see Monument Valley. Our guide Robert was great and everything you could want in a guide - knowledgeable, funny, and an absolute pro. I couldn't believe he's only been doing this for 5 months, he seemed born into this position. He selected horses for both of us that fit both our comfort and non-existent skill levels (Mac and Bandit), ensuring that we were able to relax and enjoy the views and stories of the Valley. Highly recommend.
