Overview

The Bender family continues a 50 year tradition of traveling in open air style safari vehicles north of Corolla along the ocean and sand dunes on a 2 hour, small group, excursion sharing history and ecology along the way. We stop for several photo opportunities and points of interests along the way, as well including private access to the Wild Horse Conservation Area. This tour also included a professional and knowledgeable horse guide to educate you on what you are seeing. Choose from one of 3 departure times when you book.

For now, we will allow maximum capacity ONLY for one family or group per household if staying together in the same rental house. Otherwise, the maximum will be TWELVE (12) people.

If you have more than 12 people please call us directly for accommodations.

We will NOT be able to allow any children UNDER 40 POUNDS on the tour.

We saw lots of horses! In fact, we saw two tussle! Exciting to watch! Craig was our tour guide and he was excellent!! Would absolutely do again! Well worth the money!

Very bumpy ride on truck with 12 people facing to the side. 100 horses in the area and we saw about 12 mostly in residential area (under homes, in backyards, etc). I was very surprised to find that the area includes many home with sand road access. I expected just open space with horses. Nice ride along the beach where people had their trucks lined up and were fishing (holiday weekend). Good commentary. Impressive driving skills. Saw where sea turtle hatching area is protected and even a dead elderly loggerhead on the water’s edge. Very good overall.

Smiley Riley our guide was AWESOME!!!! She took the roads, that she thought horses might be and she was right. We saw about 23 different horses of those, 3 were babies. We saw a speeding car going down the beach with 2 different police cars following it. That was an adventure. We followed the chase (not part of the tour) and low and behold horses were right around the corner in a couple's yard where police pulled the speeding car over. Smiley was passionate about seeing horses and finding them for us. She explained the history of the horses, the houses we passed, driving the beach, and anything else, she thought would be of interest to the group. It was an enjoyable tour. Would go again.
