This photo class, and tour, is a unique experience in and around Santa Fe. Professional photographer David has been a Santa Fe resident for more than 30 years. Bring your digital camera, smartphone, or both. This photo class/tour is a great place to start here in Santa Fe. You will learn composition, portraiture, landscape photography, lowlight, camera functions, and lots more. This 2- hour photo-class/tour will be a fun and insightful photographic learning experience for you while getting to know Santa Fe. Photo editing with Snapseed will be part of the instructions.
David knows all the best places to photograph in and around Santa Fe as well as being able to help travelers with questions regarding local restaurants, cultural activities, hiking, etc.

This tour was one of the highlights of my trip to Santa Fe. David is a patient and knowledgeable teacher of photography, and I learned so much form him in our short time together. I appreciated his explanations of the features of Santa Fe architecture and how to use those feature for maximum impact. He also took time to teach portraiture photography and introduce an easy-to-use editing app that I will be using from this point forward. This tour was not what I expected. It is more of a photography lesson than a tour of Santa Fe. Although the tips for taking and editing photographs were very informative, I thought we would be touring Santa Fe in the process, seeing different sites and learning about the history. David did share his extensive knowledge about photography angles and edits to compose the perfect picture and I will use what I learned.

Hi I am sorry that you interpreted the course description as more of a photo tour than a class. I will try to improve what I have written to make it more clear. What we do in every class is tour the downtown plaza area, including the museums, and parks, visit the historic La Fonda hotel, and walk some of the downtown streets. The rest of downtown Santa Fe is primarily restaurants, galleries, and museums, many of them which I point out. My class/tour covers the most important aspects of the downtown area. Keep in mind this is only a two-hour class. When the class is done I always offer ideas for half and full-day excursions in and around the area, as well as restaurant recommendations. I cover a lot of ground including historical locations, photo editing, and more in a short period of time. Shopping and gallery site seeing is not the priority of this excursion, learning how to use your camera or iPhone in conjunction with understanding photo composition is the focus. I think this is the only review out of more than 60 that is not a 5-star rating. Again I will clarify the class outline so that not even one person will be disappointed. Best for now David Hoptman
