What To Expect
1
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi
Santa Fe means "holy faith," and the first church on this site was built in 1610, and it was replaced by a larger one in 1630, which was then destroyed following the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. The church doors are adorned with 20 bronze plaques depicting New Mexico's history since 1539.
2
Sena Plaza
Santa Fe is a fantastic destination. It is one of the city's oldest and most authentic structures.
3
Loretto Chapel
The chapel is a popular destination for tours, weddings, and other events. It is notable for its unique helix-shaped spiral staircase.
4
Barrio de Analco
Beautiful walk through historic homes, the San Francisco Playhouse, and the Inn of the Five Graces resort. There are historic structures in the district, which is designated as a National Historic Landmark.
5
San Miguel Chapel
The Mission was built between 1610 and 1628, and the Church was partially destroyed during the 1680 Revolt before being rebuilt in 1710, with numerous restorations over the years. The inside beam dates from 1710, the altar screen and area show the oldest portions, and the early St. Michael's College is next door.
6
The Oldest House
The current residence is built on a portion of the foundation of an ancient Indian Pueblo that dates back to around 1200CE. The original architecture of this primarily early Spanish dwelling is clearly visible, and the outside walls show excellent examples of adobe, as described in the "Cities of Gold" story.
7
New Mexico State Capitol (Roundhouse)
The rotunda in the center, built in territorial style and dedicated in 1966, features the Great Seal of the State of New Mexico and the Zia sun symbol. You will see art and handcrafts by New Mexico artists throughout the museum, as well as Michael Naranjo's sculpture and the Eternal Flame at Bataan Memorial.
