What To Expect

Verde River

The Classic Water to Wine tour begins with approximately an hour and a half inflatable kayak trip on a scenic stretch of the Verde River with just enough chutes and riffles to add a bit of excitement without ruffling any feathers. Your river trip ends in the shade of giant Cottonwood trees at the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River. Here, you take the gravel path up through the vineyards to the Tuscan farmhouse at Alcantara Vineyards for your wine tasting delight

Alcantara Vineyards and Winery

The Alcantara Vineyards is a favorite on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, featuring award-winning wines and friendly sommeliers to guide you through the tasting. Each customer gets a $20 credit (included in price) to use for wine tastings, food or gifts.

Very fun and (for us) unique experience. It's especially great for folks who have little to no kayaking experience. The adventure felt like a one-hour kayaking version of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland - and that's a good thing! Our guide, Ashley, was helpful, humorous, and communicative. And what I liked about the guide part of our outing was that Ashley drove us to the starting-off point, gave instructions, and launched us. She didn't go with us, which was nice in that we felt we could truly go at our own pace. The wine-tasting at the end was fun - the folks there helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Overall a most enjoyable afternoon (and a great way to celebrate an anniversary!).

Well that was a great Tuesday adventure! We had a beautiful, fun and relaxing kayak moment outrunning the monsoons! Dakota was our guide and set us up well! Wine flight after… Vowed to return!
