What To Expect

Verde River

The Classic Water to Wine tour begins with approximately an hour and a half inflatable kayak trip on a scenic stretch of the Verde River with just enough chutes and riffles to add a bit of excitement without ruffling any feathers. Your river trip ends in the shade of giant Cottonwood trees at the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River. Here, you take the gravel path up through the vineyards to the Tuscan farmhouse at Alcantara Vineyards for your wine tasting delight

Alcantara Vineyards and Winery

The Alcantara Vineyards is a favorite on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, featuring award-winning wines and friendly sommeliers to guide you through the tasting. Each customer gets a $20 credit (included in price) to use for wine tastings, food or gifts.

relaxing on the river listening to the live music coming from the vineyard was super peaceful. the tour guides were super friendly and helpful. all around great time

Simply put, I can’t wait to do this again! We had an absolute blast. Our guide Mariano gave great instructions and really set us up for a fabulous trip down the River. Having lunch and libations after our trip at Alacantara was the icing on this birthday celebration cake. 5 stars and a must do in AZ!

Ok so we’re old and fat-let me say that first. We looked like two white beached whales floating down the brown river. Now having said that, I loved this while my hubby was more like “did it once and don’t need to do it again.” If you have back problems or your hip flexors are in question, I might recommend a tubing excursion as this did require some flexibility. The company that did this tour was amazing and I loved coming back to drink wine. A couple notes-I thought this was a float, get off and drink and repeat. It was NOT. It’s a they drop you off, you kayak down the river and then come back and have wine so just make sure your expectations are set. No joke on the extra clothes. You will be soaked.
