Overview
We make it easy to see it all in one day! Relax on the coach as the driver guide narrates while you enjoy the beauty of Turnagain Arm. On the cruise get ready to view one of the largest concentration of glaciers in Alaska. Overall this was a very enjoyable cruise. Be aware that with the coach from Anchorage and the tunnel schedules, you may end up spending an hour or more in the elements waiting to board the boat at the dock. Pack and dress in layers for shifts in weather. Once aboard the boat, the indoor cabin is warm and cozy with spectacular views out the full windows. The on-board meal consists of vegetarian chili or seafood chowder along with a roll, broccoli slaw, and a variety of snacks. You won't leave hungry. Soft drinks and alcohol is available for purchase on board. Tea, water, and coffee are included. While as a whole this tour felt much more commercialized than other tours, Guests still have ample opportunities to see spectacular views of several glaciers, wildlife, etc. We saw eagles, otters, seals, orcas, humpback whales, and more! We even saw pieces of a couple glaciers breaking off into the ocean. The guides while knowledgeable, still felt very commercialized and less concerned with the history and natural beauty than they were getting Guests as close as possible to the glaciers and wildlife. At times it felt a little intrusive to the natural beauty. The tour was very full and at times it was hard to even just observe for everyone trying to snap a selfie or get the wildlife on film. There is just something to be said about taking in the nature without having to capture every single moment for Instagram- but that is the culture we live in today. I would recommend this tour again - simply with the understanding of the experience you are paying for.

All in all this was a pretty good tour. Thr company seems to be a little more commercially minded than others and less concerned with the history and natural aspects of Alaska so in some ways it seems very much commercialized in order to make money. That being said, they do take you right up to the glaciers, help facilitate seeing lots of wildlife and the natural beauty of Alaska. The indoor cabin of the Boat is still perfect for viewing all the sights while staying warm with ample opportunities to step outside for breathtaking photos. The lunch provided is seafood chowder or vegetarian chili and you must notify them more than 24 hours out if you'd like to change your selection. You are also given lots of snacks and drinks are available for purchase followed up by a warm chocolate chip cookie just before you dock. Be aware that you may be waiting in the cold elements for over an hour between arriving at the dock and being able to board the boat. Dress in layers to anticipate shifts in weather patterns. The views are spectacular and on the right day, you're likely to see seals, otters, eagles, porpoises, orcas, humpback whales and more!
