4-Hour Biblical Creation + Sunset Tour • Grand Canyon National Park South Rim

Overview
Experience the Grand Canyon from a biblical creation perspective! For over 25 years, Canyon Ministries has been serving the Grand Canyon, creating Christ-centered and life-changing adventures with an eternal purpose.

Meeting inside the park at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center flag pole about four hours before the sun sets, the Sunset Rim Tour visits the very best locations of the South Rim’s east side. Along Desert View Drive, you will ride comfortably in our tour vehicle to each amazing overlook and vista.

Once we arrive at each spot on the tour, we will hop off the vehicle for incredible views, exploration, and exciting teaching tied into everything we’re seeing. During the tour, your guide will spend time sharing about the geology, plants, animals, and people history of the canyon—and of course, the biblical message of Creation and the Flood as recorded in the book of Genesis.

What To Expect
1
Grand Canyon South Rim
Our biblical creation tours of the Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim include multiple stops to the very best overlooks with tons of insightful teaching throughout the day. The order below is a "typical" route, focusing on the park's east side along Desert View Drive. Due to changing weather, seasons, or the people flow in the park that day, we may have alternate stops or order other than what we provide below. Our tours are not "scripted", so guides have the freedom and flexibility to respond to changes in the park as well as your own individual group dynamic.
2
Grand Canyon Visitor Center South Rim
Our tour meets at flag pole just outside the Grand Canyon Visitor Center building inside the park at tour start time. Plan extra arrival time during spring and summer. Holidays and spring break may have lines over an hour long getting into the park. We suggest you arrive early and enjoy views at the Grand Canyon Village or Mather Point or a Rim Trail walk before joining our tour.
3
Pipe Creek Vista
Starting near the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, our first stop provides you with an introduction to the Grand Canyon and its geology. We will lay the foundation for the rest of the tour regarding the biblical events of the Flood found in Genesis and the significance of what we'll be exploring throughout our tour.
4
Grandview Point
Learn about the exciting Wild West people history at Grandview Point, with talks on mining both copper and tourist's pockets in the early days of the Grand Canyon National Park development. Enjoy wide vistas and the distant Colorado River as we talk about the significance of the canyon and whether that river has the power to cut and remove this material.
5
Lipan Point
While taking in fantastic river views, including one of the canyon's largest rapids, we will talk about the Native American Ancestral Puebloans who lived far below on the Unkar Delta. At Lipan Point, we will also showcase the geological Great Unconformity, Cambrian Explosion, and the Tapeats Sandstone—all of which provide fantastic observable evidence for a global Flood. Learn about the mechanisms of the Flood from its onset, and how we believe the sedimentary rock layers were deposited through this year-long destructive event of biblical proportions!
6
Navajo Point
A lot of water, in a little bit of time. Learn about the carving of the Grand Canyon by what we call the "lake spillover" or "breached dam" model, something first proposed in geology all the way back in the 1800s and still held by both creation and some secular geologists alike today. See beyond the Grand Canyon to the distant Vermillion and Echo Cliffs of the Marble Platform and southeast to parts of the Painted Desert. Learn about the nearby historic Desert View Watchtower, completed in 1932.
7
Moran Point
Concluding at one of the very best locations to watch the sun as it sets below the distant cliff walls to the west, close out the day with the One who made it. Adequate time will be given to sit, relax, and enjoy this special time. Blankets are available, as is the comfort and warmth of the vehicle should we be in cooler weather.
8
Grand Canyon Visitor Center South Rim
After the tour, our guide will drop you off back at your vehicle at the Grand Canyon National Park Visitor Center, or wherever else you may have parked that day. If you booked the Train & Sunset Tour (available on our website), we will return you to your vehicle in Williams.

Our guide Paul was so knowledgeable about the Canyon and it’s creation. He hit all of the lookouts and knew exactly where to go for the perfect sunset views. Highly recommended.

Eddie was our guide. He was very knowledgeable of the area and how it fits into our Biblical worldview. It was neat to hear his testimony of how God captured his heart and how it led him to lead tours like this. We ended the tour watching the sunset over the Grand Canyon. Amazing experience-highly recommend for anyone!

Guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Explained why thought what he does. I would recommend the sunset tour. It's 4 hrs. Plenty of time to make stops to view the canyon from different angles.
