Honestly, people only write reviews when something is really awful or really amazing. Spoiler alert: THIS TRIP WAS AMAZING!
Captain Joe was fantastic, even in rough conditions. We had gorgeous sunshine, which is rare, but also makes the fishing a little tougher and the water a little choppy. Regardless of the conditions, Joe would keep us positioned to minimize the effect of the wind and the waves and lead us to a pocket of salmon. We were still able to reel in multiple keepers. If your trip with Joe happens to be a sunny day and the fishing is slower than normal, you won't be disappointed because the views from the boat are stunning - in every direction.
Joe provided detailed instructions that took out all the guess work of how to get to the marina, who to call, and what the cost would be. Our transition from cruise ship to the fishing charter and back was seamless and Joe was reachable should we have needed him. As an over compulsive planner, I really appreciated all the information Joe provided us in advance.
We traveled as a family with a 4 year old, Joe was more than prepared for us. He got our son involved, had kid friendly snacks, and the conversation felt like we were talking to an old friend. We left Alaska feeling like we didn't see nearly enough - which means a return trip for us and a visit with our friend, Joe.
