Best option if you want to see Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor area. Booked 4 hour minivan tour for 4 the day before arriving in port. Clare, the owner was very helpful and we had Grant as our driver, a local, and very knowledgeable about the area and really made the tour so enjoyable! Beats sitting on the cruise arranged bus, as Cadillac Mtn was fogged in and Grant took us to so many interesting places that a tour bus never would have been able to! Because of this was one of my favorite stops on the cruise.

We took a 4-hr Private Tour to Acadia National Park and MDI with At Your Service Tours. Paul was our guide and driver and he was Fabulous! We appreciated the fact that he is a lifelong local with a vast knowledge of Bar Harbor and the entire island. He kept us ahead of both the summer holiday crowds and the fog that kept crawling in. We went straight to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain first-off - ahead of the crowds and the fog. It was beautiful and clear, and we have fabulous pics! We saw beaver dams and a flora/fauna garden where children can go on a scavenger hunt searching for specific ferns and flowers, etc. From there, we went to the heavily-touristy traveled areas around Thunder Hole. It was a nice stop, but not the highlight because it was busy and the tide wasn’t right to appreciate the experience, but Paul had prepared us in advance that we would be fighting crowds and the wrong tide hours. Afterwards, Paul took us to several Fabulous and Picturesque spots, including gardens (the Azalea Garden) and tiny towns across the island where there were no crowds and little traffic and fabulous opportunities to get out of the bus and take pics. Paul took some great family pics of our group with our phones and cameras at many of the most picturesque spots. At the end of our tour, he dropped us at a great little restaurant for lunch, Bar Harbor Lobster Company, in Bar Harbor within walking distance of the tender dock for our ship, but past the heavily trafficked tourist area/restaurants that most of the tourists frequent. We were able to enjoy our wonderful lunch without rushing and still had plenty of time to shop for T-shirt’s and souvenirs before boarding our ship tender. Paul and At Your Service Tours was one of the highlights of our trip and I can’t recommend Paul or the tour company enough! If you are searching for Small and Private shore excursions in Bar Harbor that beat the crowds and allows you and your group more time than the big cruise ship tour buses at each stop (and allows you to see more places with more independent time), I would choose At Your Service Tours and ask for Paul! You won’t regret it!
