Me and my family are 6th generation "Gladesmen" and we'd love to show you the Big Cypess National Preserve. This is the largest subtropical swamp in the USA, where plants and animals grow and live no where else in the world. See the elusive Panther, black bear, wading birds, deer, its a photo opportunity of a life time!

I took Captain Steve’s Swamp Buggy Tour with two friends. Captain Steve is really my favorite part of the tour. He made us feel like we were family he was taking for a tour. He was very informative if the creatures and flora of the amazing Everglades. I can’t wait until the grandkids come to visit so I can take them on his tour.

We went on the 9:00am buggy ride with Shane as our guide. It was the dry season so the water levels were lower and the bugs had not come out yet. Shane was phenomenal! Kind and respectful Shane was the greatest. He really seems to respect the land and showed us panther tracks and bear tracks. Seemed generally concerned when a couple of 4 wheeler's destroyed the panther tracks that he had just shown us. Along with the tracks we saw many alligators, turtles, birds and deer. He exited the buggy many times to make sure we saw certain points of interest. A mother alligator and her offspring were basking in the FL sun along side a small canal. He was very knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife in the area. When booking this tour make sure you ask for Shane, he really enjoys what he does.

Captain Wills was our swamp buggy tour guide. His knowledge and reverence for all things Everglades was readily apparent. Captain Wills pointed out panther tracks alongside the road and a mama alligator sunning herself on the bank with her 2 little ones. He showed the plants that the natives used as bug repellents and others that were used as fire starters. He was great with our granddaughters (ages 4& 5) and patiently and happily answered all our questions. I would definitely recommend this adventure. It puts you in the middle of an ecosystem unchanged for eons. Awe inspiring and beautiful.
