The computer generates where you sit by your weights and so it is fair and the helicopters are not always full so they are not cramming you in just to make money: therefore I am a bit confused as to , why they have middle back seats. If you are seated in a middle back seat - and you won't know till you board - the ride will be pointless - sat behind 3 people and with someone at each back window seat looking out, you see very little. When you get to that first reveal moment you will enjoy the back of people's heads and their Ooos and Aaas. There should be info telling you this may happen or a discount for this type of seat. I wouldn't want anyone to spend that much money without knowing this was a possibility - I really felt my ride was pointless and it was quite sad really. Having a disabilty I was unable to hike the canyon so this was an opportunity to see it up close. When I contacted Maverick they didn't respond. Like I said they aren't cramming you on just to make the money, some helicopters fly with 5 or less so I don't know why they do this.

We at Maverick Helicopters make safety our top priority and while I understand and empathize with your frustration in regards to the seating situation, we have to be very careful to properly balance the helicopter and all seating arrangements reflect that. I am sorry that you feel that your seats did not provide the best view but we exclusively fly the ECOSTAR helicopter which is the model that provides the optimum views for sightseeing and we do feel we are providing a quality product no matter where you are seated in the aircraft. It is unfortunate that you felt your experience was lacking but we certainly appreciate our customer’s taking the time to share feedback good or bad.

I would highly recommend this trip to anyone considering it. The views are absolutely amazing - you wouldn't be able to see even half as much from ground level. The pilot acts as a tour guide, pointing out parts of the GC like the fault lines, the river, the Native American section etc. Check-in process is simple and straight-forward - you need to arrive around 45 minutes in advance of the flight to check-in. There's a comfortable waiting area. You can't take any bags etc with you (you are able to take phones, cameras, water), but they check the bags in behind the front desk for you for no extra fee. If you book through Trip Advisor they will need to see a 'payment voucher'. My email confirmation from TA sufficed. Worth mentioning that you don't find out where you are sitting until you are there. We were lucky and ended up with front row seats. There are three front-row passenger seats, then four back-row passenger seats (two of which are window seats). I imagine this changes how much you are able to see. Our flight only had five people on it which we were told is the norm (it was peak time 12:45 in August).

Hovering over the Grand Canyon and experiencing the grandeur and splendor of its beauty is undefinable but our helicopter trip was great and gave us views that we couldn’t have experienced in any other method. Highly recommend this experience.
