45 Minute Semi-Submarine Tour of Catalina Island From Avalon

Overview
Come aboard Catalina Island's newest semi-submarine, the SS Nautilus, and enjoy a deep sea adventure 1,000 leagues beyond your imagination. The main attraction of this unique vessel allows six feet underwater viewing while staying dry so eager seafarers can get up close and face-to-face with schools of fish anticipating treats fired away from custom designed fish food torpedo buttons. Designed after America's first nuclear powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, the 45-minute journey is the destination itself as our captain and his crew ventures out on an exploratory mission to the undersea gardens of Avalon Bay.

My 6 - 11 years old enjoyed seeing fish in kelp forests and they enjoyed the 'fish food torpedoes'; so the .which was there for them. But anyone older sees the artifice and the racket to make easy money that the boat ride is. They have a 1990s style fake submarine artificial 'video experience' with lies about diving down to '1-6 feet' ( you were already at 16 ft when you get into the pseudo-sub, and you never really dive even though they pretend to close the hatch and lock it). My suspicion is we went to one very close kelp bed near the pier and circle back around and went back in the same kelp bed and they pretend to go to two different locations. You really only see three types of fish and they're already been trained just to come to the pseudo-sub because they know they will be fed there. I recommend if you have anybody older but then 12 to do a different experience! But anyone 11 and under - just enjoy the 'magic' with them!

Cancelled my ride. Didn’t tell me. I waited in line to get a ticket for 30 minutes just for them to tell me it isn’t running today.

Everything was great and clean. Just wished the workers would be a little more enthusiastic. We got to see local fish a few orange ones and 4 blue ones. Cool though. Left and arrived on time. You could pay to feed fish.
