6 Hours Private Civil Rights Tour of Montgomery

Overview
This tour will take us to some of the most important sites that defined the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama. Our journey will take us on a definitive and emotional story of the civil rights era that changed the fabric of American life and sparked a movement. From the pulpit where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. preached to the spot where Mrs. Rosa Parks refuse to give up her seat on a Montgomery City bus. Afterwards, we'll continue on to the Civil Rights Memorial center and many other sites related to the Civil Rights movement. It's been said that those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

National Memorial for Peace and Justice
The National Memorial for Peace and Justice was conceived with the hope of creating a sober, meaningful site where people can gather and reflect on America's history of racial inequality. Set on a six-acre site, the memorial uses sculpture, art, and design to contextualize racial terror. The national memorial is a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terror in America and its legacy.

I took my sister on a whirlwind tour of important sites in the Civil Rights Movement for her birthday. I’m so glad I came across a listing for Jake Williams’ tour! Mr Williams is an amazing historian and advocate for Montgomery, Alabama. He not only shared his own personal experience during the March to Selma but he showed us all of the sites in Montgomery and taught us the history that took place in each location. We retraced the route from Selma to Montgomery and traveled through his home County of Lowndes County as well. This was a once in a lifetime experience that I am so grateful for. I left wanting to return to Montgomery as soon as possible and have been encouraging everyone to go there and take his tour. Trust me, book this tour.
