6 Hours Private Civil Rights Tour of Montgomery

Overview
This tour will take us to some of the most important sites that defined the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama. Our journey will take us on a definitive and emotional story of the civil rights era that changed the fabric of American life and sparked a movement. From the pulpit where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. preached to the spot where Mrs. Rosa Parks refuse to give up her seat on a Montgomery City bus. Afterwards, we'll continue on to the Civil Rights Memorial center and many other sites related to the Civil Rights movement. It's been said that those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

National Memorial for Peace and Justice
The National Memorial for Peace and Justice was conceived with the hope of creating a sober, meaningful site where people can gather and reflect on America's history of racial inequality. Set on a six-acre site, the memorial uses sculpture, art, and design to contextualize racial terror. The national memorial is a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terror in America and its legacy.

We did a half day tour with Jake. It was truly outstanding. Jake is passionate and knowledgeable about Montgomery as someone who grew up in Montgomery, has ancestors who were slaves and served in the state legislature and Marched for civil rights when he was only 12. He is great at sharing history in an engaging way and is eager to answer questions. We did this tour on our first morning and then returned to a number of places he showed us on our tour — both related to civil rights and parks and restaurants. We highly recommend and are grateful we found this tour on Trip Advisor. We all learned a lot of new things from Jake. Thanks Jake!!!!
