I've wanted to visit for many years and to finally come here is difficult to explain. It was emotional; i did tear up seeing the memorial pools the first time and again once in the museum taking everything in. The whole site and museum is very respectfully treated and maintained, you can spend hours just being around these spots and not even notice the time. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and happy to help, we arrived on a busy day and 20 minutes into queuing the main doors were closed, the building was evacuated and no one was allowed in for at least a couple of hours (i'm still unsure of the reason as i've heard a few different ones). They kindly offered a refund or to return the next day and the tickets will be validated (we did the latter). I'm glad i was able to cross this off my 'must go to' list but definitely bring tissues; it's a heavy trip.

We payed to get the city pass in nyc and we turned up and we’re waiting to get in as they have to see your Covid 19 vaccine certificates and when we showed them they asked for my 11 year old daughters one as the USA have different rules as children over 5 have to be vaccinated so they didn’t let us inside!!!

This museum is right up there with the Holocaust Museum in DC. It is gut wrenching and hard to look at. You are either crying or on the verge of tears the entire time. For most everyone that visits, this is something we’ve lived through and you are re-living it over again. I noticed that there were lots of images and videos that were not played, probably out of sympathy for the visitors. I did like the layout of the museum. There is lots of open space with places to sit, which give people the opportunity to sit and reflect in peace and quiet.
