We didn’t realized we had booked the tour the morning after the NYC Marathon, so there were so many people there. This wasn’t a huge problem in the open areas of the memorial Museum, but in the primary historical detailed section that weaves in tight circles, it became absolutely claustrophobic and both my son and I (and others) were searching for the exit and it felt like a giant maze we couldn’t escape due to the crowd. Having experienced 9/11 at the time, there was almost something symbolic and weirdly appropriate about how sick this made me feel - but I doubt it was intentional. Otherwise the museum was amazing and they did a fantastic job with both the information and emotional components of the experience. Just try really hard to find a downtime to go.

We were rushed from the moment we arrived. The experience itself is solemn and requires a lot of listening, reading and viewing materials that enhance the experience. The ushers at the front gate was particularly borderline rude in rushing people in with their tickets on their phones. Not a great start. The museum itself is lovely and very well done - lots to review and immerse yourself in that time. It's sad and you want to be respectful. The museum may consider staying open longer than 5pm. People want to pay their respects and take their time.

The Museum is a must see for everyone. The 1 hour guided tour for $20 is well worth it because it provides so much more information about what happened on 9-11. It is a depressing visit but one which everyone should take to make sure that 9-11 is never forgotten.
