What To Expect

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve

Native guides will lead you through the meandering bayou in a shady, spacious pontoons boat under a relaxing breeze. Learn about the swamp's ecosystem and all of its mysterious lore while viewing the gators, egrets, raccoons, nutria, and snakes that call the swamp their home. If you are coming from New Orleans and need a hotel pick up, Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour offers pick-ups/drop-offs at select hotel locations for an additional fee. Please call for exact pick-up time/location options and to reserve your transport. All pickups are 1 hour prior to tour. There's a lunch option available for the 10 a.m. where you will dine at Restaurant Des Familes after your swamp adventure.

Hankering for some good cheesy fun times on the swamp? This is the tour for you! Our tour package with our sightseeing pass included a bus to get us there, which is great, because it is a bit of a drive outside the city. Our tour guide (Jamie I believe) was cracking silly jokes the entire time, that kept me entertained while we cruised along the water. The scenery is beautiful, with swamp cabins, turtles, eagle nests, and of course alligators!! We got to see Nosey, the biggest gator in the area, which was pretty cool, and even got to hold a baby alligator. I thoroughly enjoyed this activity and would recommend this as a very fun thing to have in your itinerary!

This was a return visit for us to Jean LaFitte Tours. Even though the weather was wet, the trip did not disappoint. In addition to a good number of alligators, our guide pointed out various other wild life - huge spiders and their webs! - and gave history of the canals. Bring a poncho - you never know with Louisiana and it's best to be prepared. The boats float regardless of the rain!

this tour was wonderful and our guide was very informative. I was very glad that we chose the covered boat. It moves along more slowly & much quieter than the air boats. This allowed us to view many birds and gators. We had a great time!
