Seth and Forrest were very professional, but were very relaxed and a lot of fun. Since the SAG vehicle drives behind you there are no concerns about breaking down or speeding cars coming up out of nowhere from behind you. I highly recommend the guided tour for this additional safety aspect. I would remember to dress in layers as it can be quite cool at the start and quite toasty at the bottom. They do provide gloves and jackets at no extra cost if you donā€™t prepare that way like we didnā€™t. The helmets are downhill mountain bike style, not some flimsy road bike helmet. Donā€™t plan on a cardio workout! It really is a downhill event

Going down the volcano with a guide is the way to go. The best part is that the van that brought you up, follows you down, keeping traffic away from you. When cara start to back up behind the van, the driver radios the leader and he getā€™s us over to the side, going slow, so that the cars can safely get by us. Another good thing is that as we got lower and the temperature rose we were able to put jackets into the van.

We did the downhill tour with Forrest and Seth and had an absolute blast. Forrest and Seth kept us entertained with stories and information on the drive up the mountain and guided us to great stops on the way down. We loved the ā€œalohaā€ stop! Forrest followed behind us with the van and kept us safe from passing traffic and Seth led us down the hill on his bike and even accommodated our request to go a little faster on the second half of the trip! Our tour included a stop in a cute small town where we could grab some food and do some shopping! Would absolutely do this again on our next trip to Maui!
