On our way from Ogunquit to Bar Harbor, my wife and I decided to stop in Portland to take the "Walk Through Time" tour. We are foodies and had been reading a lot about Portland over the past few years and seeing its restaurants and bakeries featured on a number of cooking programs. Unfortunately, we did not have time to take the culinary tour; but, we were very pleased to have been able to take the Walk Through Time history tour. Our guide Ross, a retired lawyer and long time resident of the city, was very knowledgeable about it's history and its culture. Our group of twelve walked through the old portion of the city at a comfortable pace and learned how the city has evolved over the past few centuries. While walking past the Customs House, we were all pleasantly surprised when one of the workers there invited us in for a brief tour. It made an already great tour that much more memorable. And, I think it is indicative of how friendly and welcoming the people of Portland are. I highly recommend visiting Portland and taking this tour.

Excellent walking tour of Portland! Our guide was informative and funny. He kept us entertained throughout and at the end we felt like we learned so much about the city. I would recommend to do this at the beginning of your stay so you can get acclimated to the area!
