My wife and I decided to take this tour the first day we were in Portland, mostly to get the lay of the land and to get ideas about things to do and restaurants to eat at. While we had a great time during our time in Portland we never expected this to be the highlight of our trip. Our guide Mike is a person that is well suited for this tour. He is a walking encyclopedia for the history in the area, he was able to teach us about so many things regarding the rich history of Portland (if he asks the first date you will want to know is 1632). Mike made our visit to the area complete, he will remind you of your knowledgeable grandfather, there is a very sweet surprise at the end of this tour. Please do yourself a favor and do not miss it.

The whole reason we offer history centric tour is because of Mike. He started out as a food tour guide and we had to keep reminding him they were food tours with a side of history, not the reverse, and then one day realized it made sense to just go with it and let him fulfill his personal passion of the history centric tours and we haven't looked back since. He's a gem! He will LOVE seeing this as we do. Thank you for sharing your tour experience in this thoughtful review

Great history tour from Mike. It was a rainy day but Mike's history telling of Portland was so engaging we still enjoyed the day. This tour is worth it to give you a historical and social context of Portland.
