We were most excited to do this tour because we felt it would show us a much under represented part of the energy and contribution to the city and U.S. Unfortunately, our tour guide was uninspired. He only gave one or two pieces of information at each stop and was clearly faking any interest in what he was doing. He may have been having an off-day, but it spoiled the entire experience for us. He spent more time surfing on his cell phone (maybe looking up info as we drove?) than sharing info. We would recommend seeing the Frederick Douglas home, but we were not there long enough to truly appreciate the breadth of information available at the site. Take a cab or Lyft and extend the visit. We had been to a few of the monuments the night before on the Twilight tour and the guide spoke for at least 10 minutes about the history and symbolism of each area. He was passionate about his city and bringing it to his travelers. A complete contrast to the lack of enthusiasm shown by Kenny on this tour.

Our tour guide was Kenny and he was really great! The stops on this tour were well worth the ride. It would have been nice if we could have gotten out at Howard University, but with so many other stops we really would not have had enough time. You must keep in mind that the 4 hours include your travel time between locations and DC traffic can be a bit much at times. However, at the end of the tour you had guaranteed entrance into the African-American Museum. I will reccommend this tour to everyone!

The African-American History City Tour was worth every penny because it was a great learning experience. The areas of Washington, the sites. and historical and present day information shared by our amazing guide Lynnette brought everything to life. She was so knowledgeable and took time with questions from the group. I wish to add that the weather that day was awful with heavy rain, wind, and cold temperature, so the group decided not to get out at each stop. Lynnette was flexible about this and gave the group extra time where they did choose to get out. The tour ends in front of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, where Lynnette escorted the group to the entrance and ensured our entry. This was clearly a bonus since the museum continues to have a long booking wait. It is magnificent! I would definitely recommend this tour!
