I really enjoyed this tour because we learned about D.C. from an African American perspective. This is very similar to a hop-on/hop-off bus tour, we went to multiple sites in which the tour guide would talk about and then give us some time to walk around on our own. While this tour did focus on African American culture and historical sites, we also visited national monuments such as the White House and Capital Building, etc., where the tour guide would discuss the contributions of African Americans. I really appreciate that this tour takes you through African American communities and landmarks such as the Frederick Douglas house and the Civil War memorial, which I do not think I would've gotten from another tour. What to expect: This tour is long! Eat beforehand and along the way if possible and be prepared for this to be an all-day thing. By the time I got to the museum I was "low on fuel". Nonetheless, the museum is amazing and I will definitely make another trip to see it on my own time. I would also like to see the Frederick Douglas house on my own time as this tour did not grant us access inside. Kenny was a great guide and was really knowledgeable of the sites. I can tell he loves DC and enjoys giving visitors another perspective. I am really glad this tour exists and it's great for everyone, especially families with older kids (teenage) like mine.

My BFF and I came to VA for her grandson's graduation fat Fort Lee and decided to visit DC since it was so close. We saw the REVIEWS for this tour and decided to take this one. We were NOT disappointed at all. KENNY was THE BEST greeter EVER and JAMAL was so informative. He was great, spoke clearly and was even pleasing to the eye... Kenny was the owner and had such a great personality. This tour took us to locations that we did not know existed in DC. The last stop was the new AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM which although VERY CROWED was nice to see. My BFF and I would recommend this tour to all.

The tour was well worth the price. The tour guide and driver were a great team. Me and my daughters saw so much more than we expected to see. Jamal was super knowledgeable. The Frederick Douglass home and museum site was amazing. The city is a gold mine and we would never have know so much without the tour and Jamal. So much was explained. Another awesome stop was at the African American Civil War Memorial...Amazing. This tour is definitely one of the best I've been on. If you're hungry for knowledge, a good time, and excellent value, this tour is the one to book. Don't expect to just sit back on a bus, you will definitely be up and about as you reach each destination. The tour finished with our entrance into the Smithsonian National Museum of African American history. I looked online for tickets to this museum for months and there were non to be found. Everything was sold out so when I realized this tour gave us admission to the museum, it was a no-brainer.
