Alaska Helicopter and Glacier Dogsled Tour - ANCHORAGE AREA

Overview
The most popular tour! Drive your own sled-dog team with 4 time Iditarod winner Dallas Seavey's team of mushers, handlers and champion dogs on real snow in the middle of summer surrounded by amazing scenery. Start this adventure with a helicopter ride over glaciers and icebergs. We often see moose, black bears, Dall sheep and goats. Land on a huge snow eld high on a glacier and enjoy a whole hour with champion sled dogs and their mushers that live here all summer. Take the dog team for an exhilarating ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush your own dog team or just sit on the sled and let the mushers run the team. After your dogsled tour meet the canine athletes that pulled your sled, listen to stories about running sled dog races of over a 1,000 miles long, and of course take pictures with your favorite dogs. After the tour the helicopter takes you back to the lodge and you’ll fly over the lower glaciers where you can see the blue melt pools and the crevasses.

This experience is a must. The Knik River Lodge is just over an hour outside of Anchorage and the drive is quite beautiful. The team at the lodge was so terrific and Bridgette has the best attitude our pilot Chris was super friendly and fun and answered all of our questions. The team at Dog Camp were so friendly, accommodating and quite experienced. The dogs have such power and those puppies in training were adorable. Chris gave us an exhilarating tour back to the lodge which was the perfect way to end the tour. I’d do this excursion again in a heartbeat!!!

Thank you for your review! The puppies always steal the show but the working dogs are the best cuddles for sure. We hope to see you again if you ever travel back to Alaska!

This is one tour you must do if you get the chance whilst in Anchorage. After picking us up from our hotel, we were driven to the Knik River site. They fitted us out special over-shoes so you don't need any special footwear to walk on the snowfield. From there we were flown by helicopter to the snowfield where the dogsled camp is. Then the fun began. Were given a brief history of the people and dogs and then we were off. For approx half hour or so, we were gliding across the snow pulled by a team of dogs - unbelievable ! Even falling off the sled into the snow was fun. We were then able see and hold puppies before we jumped back in the heicopter to head back to the base all the while looking for wildlife. Very proffesional outfit who were willing to help with anything and everything. If you get the chance, do it.

Thank you for taking time to share your experience. The overall package with transportation to and from your hotel makes it easy to enjoy all of our tours in the Knik Valley. The puppies are the added bonus!

This was an amazing experience and one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. My wife and I and two teenage daughters got to see the landscape (it was a beautiful sunny warm day), see some moose (no bears but others saw bears), and then see the dogsled camp. The puppies were a huge hit! We got to ride on the dogsleds. The dogs were happy, playful, and looked like they were having a great time. Overall a fantastic tour.
