Alaska Railroad Seward to Anchorage One Way

Overview

Departing from downtown Seward at 6pm, the Coastal Classic Train travels north along the rugged coastline of Turnagain Arm, with dramatic views of the Chugach Mountains plunging directly to the sea. At the end of Turnagain Arm, the tracks veer away from the road system into the backcountry wilderness – and what many consider to be the most scenic stretch of the Alaska Railroad, accessible only by train. Watch for views of massive glaciers, steep river canyons, and cascading waterfalls. The train arrives in Anchorage at 10:15pm.

The train ride was awesome and the crew was attentative and knowledgeable ! We spent most of the time in the Bistro as the train was not full and we were the only two people who took advantage of the seats. We could see the sites on the left and the right sides of the train. This was more than a train ride. This was a tour with a tour guide pointing out various sites along the way.

We rode from Seward to Anchorage and had a wonderful time. The views are indescribable as they were so beautiful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great way to make the trip!
