Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center
The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center is located on the banks of the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks. Pioneer Park
This stop is optional and will depend on season and available time. Pioneer Park is a 44-acre (109-hectare) park located along the Chena River that was opened in 1967 to celebrate the centennial of the Alaska Purchase. This park features many museums and attractions that commemorate early Alaskan history, such as Gold Rush Town, comprised of 35 restored buildings from the Gold Rush era; the SS Nenana, the world's second-longest wooden-hulled ship that carried passengers and cargo along the Chena River in the mid 1900s; and the Tanana Valley Railroad Museum, featuring the oldest working steam locomotive in Alaska. After this fascinating Alaskan cultural and historical experience, you’ll be taken back to your hotel. Please keep in mind that some attractions are only open seasonal and adjustments can be made.

We had an awesome afternoon with our tour guide Tony! He told fascinating stories from his life time of experience as a native Alaskan. This added so much to the tour- not the standard guide book information. Tony was very courteous and made sure we stayed safe. He also took pictures for us to add to our memories. Would be happy to book a tour with Tony again some day!
