What To Expect

Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon

Rise early to begin your hot-air balloon experience. Stop into the office for check-in, then ride to the balloon launch site (which varies day-to-day depending on weather). Your pilot begins the process of inflating the balloon when you arrive. You can even help out the crew during the inflation process for a more hands-on experience. As you float high above the ground, enjoy incredible birds-eye views of the Rio Grande Valley. Your pilot determines the route for the day depending on the wind’s direction. You may fly over the city of Albuquerque and even dip low enough to wave at people or skim the Rio Grande River. Throughout your flight, your pilot shares informative commentary about the landscape beneath you. After approximately one hour in the air, your pilot lands the balloon and the ground crew comes to meet you. Celebrate your flight with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a commemorative flight certificate before returning to the original starting point.

My husband and I booked a hot air balloon ride through the Downtown Historic B&B this last weekend when we were in town celebrating my birthday. It couldn't have been an easier or more enjoyable process. We were picked up at 6 am by one of the balloon ground crew team members, Doug, and shuttled to the company headquarters to fill out the paperwork. Doug was prompt and very friendly, as was everyone we dealt with throughout this experience. The ride, of course was amazing!! What an adventure! It's something I've always wanted to do & I was happy to check it off my bucket list with these fine folks! Dean was our pilot, and he was awesome! He's funny and delightful, making sure we were all well-informed and comfortable throughout the ride. He pointed out attractions and shared funny stories. At the end of the ride we all shared a champagne toast and got our certificates before being driven back to our B&B. We would love to do this again with Rainbow Ryders! Their collective experience, attitude and safety record make all the difference! Thank you Dean, Doug and crew for helping to make my 32nd birthday one to remember!

Dean, our pilot, was awesome. I was scared initially but he made everyone laugh and at ease while in the air. Glad I ended up doing it. Once you're up, it's pretty much just gliding above the city. Checked off my bucketlist!

We celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary (on the exact day!) with this sunrise flight. The pilot, Dean, was as good as they get, pinpoint control and with a gift of gab that was informative and appropriately funny. After touching down, I overheard my wife say to Dean, "That was the most uplifting experience I've had for any anniversary."
