What To Expect

Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon

Rise early to begin your hot-air balloon experience. Stop into the office for check-in, then ride to the balloon launch site (which varies day-to-day depending on weather). Your pilot begins the process of inflating the balloon when you arrive. You can even help out the crew during the inflation process for a more hands-on experience. As you float high above the ground, enjoy incredible birds-eye views of the Rio Grande Valley. Your pilot determines the route for the day depending on the wind’s direction. You may fly over the city of Albuquerque and even dip low enough to wave at people or skim the Rio Grande River. Throughout your flight, your pilot shares informative commentary about the landscape beneath you. After approximately one hour in the air, your pilot lands the balloon and the ground crew comes to meet you. Celebrate your flight with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a commemorative flight certificate before returning to the original starting point.

I was in Santa Fe over the summer, and I really wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride. we had to wake up at 3:00 to get to Albuquerque in time, but it was so worth it. You feel so secure in the basket, even if you are scared of heights. The sunrise is so pretty, and we passed over a river, which was really cool. When we got back, the facility provided food and drinks. I would for sure recommend, and I would go again.

From the moment we entered their facility until the Champagne together with the certificate, my wife and I had a wonderful memorable experience. Soaring to over 1,000 feet up over Albuquerque and viewing the city from the air was great. I was able to take many pictures.

We were very lucky to have had Dean as our pilot. He had very good control over the balloon, so much so that we were able to hover an inch from the Rio Grande. Our balloon fluctuated in height so we were able to get a multitude of different breathtaking views. I don’t think our experience would have been the same had we not had Dean as our pilot, he was very educational and personable. An added bonus is we didn’t land on someone’s property and we toasted champagne which was coupled with a small history lesson of the origins of ballooning. There are a number of other balloon services that you’ll see while researching them in ABQ. However, there is a reason Rainbow has the best reviews. I highly recommend them.
